The St. Valentine's Day Hair Massacre was launched in 2003 by Gordon MacDonald and inspired by his youngest daughter Kali who was in her third year of chemotherapy treatment. Kali was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2000 at the young age of 2.  This horrendous treatment was very hard on her little body, but very necessary for preservation of life.  In these three years, the whole family observed how Kali reacted to 3 rounds of hairloss.  This can be a very devastating experience for a young child, as children cannot reason with the necessity of the treatment.  The results of Kali's hair loss lead to her weakened self esteem, which inspired the MacDonald family to organize this growing event.  Kali's Mom, Tammy MacDonald - (director of the Hair Massacure), continues to run this event with the support of our project Coordinator (Nicki Wohland), the MacDonald family, staff at the two supporting foundations and 400 volunteers (including 25 dedicated captains).   On behalf of the MacDonald Family and the Hair Massacure team — A heartfelt thank you for your support!
